Honey Bee Parasites, Pests, Predators and Diseases

American foulbrood (application of Terramycin®)
Preventive Terramycin treatments are normally made at least one month
before the first major nectar flow, and again after the honey crop has been removed. Because Terramycin is relatively
unstable in honey or syrup solutions, it should be fed as a dust mixed with powdered sugar. NEVER medicate bees
when there is any danger of contaminating the honey crop. Laws concerning the treatment and control of AFB, including
terramycin use, vary from state to state. Check with the State Department of Agriculture for regulations concerning
AFB-infected colonies in your state. See the Apiary Inspector reference list for the name and address of your state
inspector.
