Apistan
(From BeeAware Expert System)

Application Timing
Best results may be achieved by treating hives (colonies) in Spring before first honey flow and Fall after last honey flow. Remove honey supers before application of APISTAN strips and do not replace until the end of control period. For adequate control within a bee yard, treat all infested colonies in that yard.

Directions for Use
Use one strip for each group of 5 frames of adult bees in each brood chamber (Langstroth deep chamber or equivalent in other sizes). If bees cover 6-9 frames, use one strip. If bees cover 10 frames, use 2 strips. Hang the strips within two combs of the edge of the bee cluster. APISTAN strips must be in contact with brood nest bees at all times. If two deep chambers are used for the brood nest, hang APISTAN strips in alternate corners of the cluster in the top and bottom chambers. For best chemical distribution, use APISTAN when daytime temperatures are at least 50 degrees F.

Duration of Treatment
Strips should be left in the hive for at least 42 days (6 weeks) to 56 days (8 weeks) and then removed.

Disposal
Strips must not be re-used. If re-used, this may result in inadequate control which could lead to re-infestation from within the hive. In addition, it is possible that used strips may be carriers of disease. Dispose of strips according to label instructions.

Handling precautions
Ensure the following precautions are observed.
- Keep the strips in the original packaging, tightly closed and away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and away from food. Keep away from chemicals which may contaminate strips.
- Use the strips as soon as they are removed from their packaging to prevent contamination.
- Wear gloves when handling the strips.
- Do not smoke, drink or eat during use.
- Wash hands after inserting strips.
